Bars like the Barrique have a world renowned wine list. The Brasserie
Federal has over 100 Swiss Beers to choose from and is near the
Bahnhof.
The Cranberry has a great variety of rum and port and you can avail
of the cigar room to light up one of your Havana’s. The IQ
bar has a large selection of whiskeys from around the world.
The James Joyce Pub is wonderfully tiled and has black wooden paneled
walls. The wood was sourced from a closed down bank that was located
on Dame Street in Dublin and is very elegant. The Guinness is perfect
and the atmosphere is cool here.
The Jules Verne Panorama Bar has a great wine bar with a good
view of downtown Zurich. The Malatesta is a bistro which serves
beer also. A great hangout for locals and tourists. The Odeon was
visited here by Lenin and Trotsky who probably plotted the revolution
from here. James Joyce was down on his luck in this city and he
scrounged some pints of beer here in his day. Prices increase here
after midnight. PurPur is the Moroccan theme bar with cushions
and pillows and the DJ does his mixing to create nice cool sounds.
For the more intellectual type of guy, check out Spheres bar which
is also a bookstore with a large selection of international magazines.
