DINING IN ZURICH

The KronenHalle is famous for the famous people that this special place attracted. The likes of Joyce, Saint Laurent, Brecht and Stravinsky loved to spend time here. A nice friendly atmosphere and the food is really good with dishes of duck, veal and herring dished out, this place oozes class. There is a great collection of 20th century art on the walls which is fantastic. All the wood panels would have works by Picasso, Matisse or Miro and Braque.

Haus Zum Roden is a fine restaurant that is set in spectacular architecture with great views of the river. The ceiling is barrel vaulted and has 30 foot beams spanning across the room. Take your pick from beef, veal, or lobster lasagne in saffron sauce. Book a table near the window because its an impressive view at night.

The ZeughausKeller on Bahnhof strasse is just enormous and was an arsenal back in 1487. The stone and beam hall offers a great selection of meat platters as well as a huge collection of beers and wines. The setting seems quite Germanic and the waiting staff are ever so busy. The place is very clean and is ideal for the tourist without the local language as all the menus are posted in about 10 different languages. Locals are also very fond of this establishment.
