For a different type of museum, why not go to the Lindt & Sprungli
chocolate factory which is south of the centre. The chocolate museum
is free and one also gets lovely free chocolate and a small history
of the factory and the secret way of making this tasty product. A
short film is also screened free of charge.
There is also a coffee museum here in Zurich called the Johann Jacobs
Museum which will tell you everything about the coffee bean, the
coffee pot and also a display about the world of coffee.
There is also a special Swiss Craft Centre which hosts plenty of
arts and crafts and folk art from around Switzerland.
The kids would also like to visit the Zurich Toy Museum which hosts
a huge selection of Swiss toys from down through the centuries.
A short excursion on the train outside of Zurich will bring you to
Utliberg. Here there is an amazing two hour Planetary Path tour along
the mountain edge which overlooks all the models of the planets in
the entire solar system. This is very impressive and is on a scale
of one to 1000 million. There is a fantastic view of Felsenegg lake
from the mountain ridge. |
